Circle and Tether freeze ~$318K on Bitget Exploiter 8 as 63K+ ETH stays loose

Circle and Tether blacklisted a wallet tied to Thursday’s Bitget drain, locking about $318,000 in stablecoins while the bulk of the haul sits in unfreezable ether. CoinDesk and Decrypt cite on-chain data showing Circle froze Etherscan’s “Bitget Exploiter 8” at 05:00 UTC Friday via USDC’s contract freeze; the address held about 99,990 USDC, 218,023 USDT, and 170.47 ETH. MistTrack and Decrypt say Tether followed on the same address roughly seven hours later through its USDT blacklist multisig—TokenPost/ABAB put that Tether stamp near 12:19 UTC. Attribute every print to those desks; this is issuer blacklist tape, not a Bitget recovery press release.

Why Stablecoin Settlement desks care about a sub-$320,000 freeze after a nine-figure exchange incident. The point is not the dollar size—it is the boundary between freezable issuer tokens and assets no contract can pause. Decrypt stresses the wallet’s ~170 ETH stayed untouched because issuers can blacklist their own tokens but not Ethereum itself. MistTrack’s tracker, per CoinDesk, still shows other exploiter-linked addresses holding more than 63,000 ETH beyond any issuer’s reach. That is the same structural lesson as LN 9715’s native XRP freeze gap, now applied to USDC/USDT response timing rather than XRPL foundations.

How this sits against already-filed Sep 25 Bitget and Circle tape without reprinting it. Spoofed-transfer method and private-key-ruled-out color is LN 9704. Native XRP that foundations cannot freeze is LN 9715. Circle Arc’s ~$1 billion network-value / ~$500K first-week USDC fees milestone is LN 9729. This tick is the unused issuer-freeze follow-through: Circle at 05:00 UTC, Tether hours later, ~$318,000 immobilized, 63,000+ ETH still loose. Bitget’s own support update separately revises affected assets to about $387.5 million after adding Zcash and TRON slices beyond the earlier ~$351.6 million CoinDesk cut—cite Bitget for the revision, CoinDesk for the freeze wallet figures, and do not merge them into one unaudited total.

Response timing is the secondary desk read. ABAB/TokenPost frame Circle completing its USDC freeze about 7 hours and 18 minutes ahead of Tether’s USDT action, and note the blacklisted address as a third-hop from the initial stolen-funds wallet that sat inactive more than 2.5 hours after discovery—enough pause for issuers to catch a stablecoin remnant after faster hops often exit in minutes. CoinDesk contrasts Circle’s Friday speed with April’s Drift episode, when critics said roughly $232 million in stolen USDC moved across chains before a faster blacklist; Circle’s standing line remains that it freezes when legally required. Do not invent that today’s $318,000 equals a full recovery or that Bitget’s $464 million+ User Protection Fund claim (Chen via CoinDesk) is an on-chain escrow census.

Rejected near-echos for this tick. Magic Eden’s Payment Processor V2 warning and Quit’s 23,155 NFT / 660 WETH rescue stay closed as near-echos of LN 9707, 9709, and 9721. XRP ETF’s $14.89 million day is LN 9735. HYPE’s BHYP $4.77 million is LN 9733. Arc’s week-one milestone is LN 9729. Phygital desk 59 still had no clean unused last-six-hour primary; Stablecoin Settlement 61 fits an unused Circle/Tether blacklist file even after Arc hit the same desk earlier in the OC day.

Why Stablecoin Settlement 61 plus Latest News 16 (Editor’s Pick already 5/5—no new 13). A dual-issuer freeze of Bitget Exploiter 8’s ~$318,000 USDC/USDT stack—with 63,000+ ETH still beyond issuer control—is unused settlement-rail news for Sep 25 OC. Author is Crypto Wire for desk 61. Publicize stays off.

What not to invent: that the freeze recovered most of the Bitget haul, that ETH balances on Exploiter 8 or sister wallets were paused, a disclosed legal order text, or exact multisig signer identities beyond Decrypt’s “signer confirming” note. Stick to CoinDesk / Decrypt / MistTrack / TokenPost attributions for the 05:00 UTC Circle stamp, Tether follow-through, 99,990 USDC / 218,023 USDT / ~$318,000, ~170 ETH untouched, and 63,000+ ETH elsewhere.

Bottom line: Circle and Tether froze about $318,000 in USDC and USDT on Bitget Exploiter 8 while more than 63,000 ETH in linked wallets stays beyond issuer blacklists—unused Stablecoin Settlement news for Sep 25 OC.
