Ethereum Locks Glamsterdam on Hoodi for October 26 With 200M Gas Limit

The Ethereum Foundation Protocol Cluster posted on October 16, 2026 that Glamsterdam is now scheduled on the Hoodi testnet at epoch 132,352, slot 4,235,264 — October 26, 2026, 17:42:48 UTC — after the upgrade already activated on Sepolia on October 6. At the same Hoodi epoch, the network’s gas limit rises to 200 million, matching Sepolia’s post-fork target. Mainnet remains TBD; this announcement does not schedule a mainnet fork. That locks a calendar the desk had only as an approximate late-October Hoodi window in an earlier Sepolia chapter.
Glamsterdam pairs the Amsterdam execution-layer fork with the Gloas consensus-layer fork. Headliners are enshrined proposer-builder separation under EIP-7732 and block-level access lists under EIP-7928. ePBS moves the proposer–builder handoff into consensus: a proposer includes a builder commitment, the builder later reveals the execution payload, and the protocol handles proposer payment instead of relying on trusted middleware. A payload timeliness committee attests to whether the payload and blob data arrived on time. BALs record accounts and storage slots touched in a block plus post-transaction state changes so clients can parallelize disk reads, validation, and state-root work — the scaling path NFT mints and marketplace contracts will eventually ride on L1.
Gas accounting also changes. EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 reprice state creation and state access; other scheduled EIPs touch intrinsic gas, calldata floors, access-list costs, and block gas accounting without refunds. Application developers — including NFT mint factories and marketplace routers that hardcode gas stipends — are told to test against the new rules and follow the Foundation’s Glamsterdam repricing impact guidance. The upgrade tracker is EIP-7773, with a long inclusion list spanning ETH transfer logs, a SLOTNUM opcode, a higher maximum contract size, a deterministic factory contract, and consensus churn adjustments.
Operators must update both execution and consensus clients before Hoodi activation; validators also need beacon-node and validator-client bumps plus any builder-tooling changes for ePBS duties. The Foundation’s client tables already list Hoodi-ready releases for several stacks — including Lodestar 1.50.0, Nimbus 26.10.1, Prysm v7.3.0, Teku 26.10.1, Besu 26.10.0, Nethermind 2.2.0, and Ethrex 30.0.0-rc.2 — while other clients remain blank until confirmed. Only use a release whose notes explicitly confirm the scheduled Hoodi Glamsterdam activation. Mainnet users and ETH holders need take no action from this Hoodi post alone.
This chapter updates the desk’s prior Glamsterdam Sepolia coverage that framed Hoodi as roughly an October 27 target while Sepolia gas tests pushed toward 200 million — see the Oct. 8 Sepolia/Hoodi LN. The new fact is the official epoch, slot, and October 26 17:42:48 UTC timestamp, plus the explicit same-epoch 200M gas-limit raise on Hoodi. NFT and marketplace engineers should treat Hoodi as the next public place to re-estimate mint and settle gas under BALs and the state-creation reprice before any mainnet date appears.
For NFT desks, the practical stake is gas estimation and mint reliability under parallel validation and higher state-creation costs — not a new token narrative. Marketplace routers, claim contracts, and batch airdrop tools that assume old refund behavior or fixed remaining-gas math are the contracts most likely to misprice after Glamsterdam. Sepolia already offers a live environment; Hoodi becomes the second public gate before any mainnet slot is named. The Ethereum Bug Bounty Program is already open for Glamsterdam specs, with client implementations becoming eligible as Hoodi releases land in the tables.
Next protocol beat: Watch whether remaining blank client rows fill with Hoodi-confirmed releases before October 26, and whether Sepolia stays clean under ePBS and BALs through the Hoodi fork. The next primary receipt is a successful Hoodi activation print — or a client-team delay notice — not speculation about a mainnet slot that the Foundation has not set.
Bottom line: Glamsterdam is locked for Hoodi at October 26, 2026, 17:42:48 UTC with a same-epoch 200M gas-limit raise after Sepolia’s Oct. 6 activation. Mainnet stays unscheduled; NFT and marketplace builders should use Hoodi to retest mint and settle gas under ePBS, BALs, and the new state pricing.
