NFT Sales Rise to $43.8M as Blur Shuts Frontend and Floors Sink

Weekly non-fungible token sales climbed to $43.77 million through October 13, a 12 percent gain from the prior seven-day period even as unique buyers fell 68.4 percent to 72,119 and sellers dropped 74.2 percent to 54,795, according to CryptoSlam data reported by TokenPost. Transactions declined 18.4 percent to 669,966, indicating that higher average sale values rather than broader participation drove the uptick. Ethereum continued to dominate, recording $19.87 million in sales, up 15.9 percent, followed by Polygon at $8.75 million and Bitcoin at $4.21 million.
The concentration of activity among fewer wallets reflects a market that has contracted sharply from earlier peaks. Monthly sales stood at $167.2 million in September 2026, down 91 percent from the December 2023 high of $1.78 billion, per CryptoSlam figures cited in a detailed CryptoDiffer analysis. Only 21 of 56 early NFT marketplaces remain actively trading, with an average lifespan of 3.9 years for those that closed.
Courtyard, the Polygon-based collection that tokenizes physical trading cards held in vaults, led weekly collection sales with approximately $7.80 million, up 2.3 percent. Pudgy Penguins ranked second at $3.06 million, a 298.2 percent surge, while Argonauts placed third at $2.17 million. CryptoPunks generated $2.14 million and Bored Ape Yacht Club $1.10 million. A single high-value Bitcoin Ordinal sale reached $638,448.
Floor prices for historic blue-chip collections remain far below all-time highs. As of mid-October data from CoinGecko and trackers such as NFTHUD, CryptoPunks held a floor near 31.29 ETH, roughly $78,600 at an ether price around $2,500, representing a 75 percent decline from the August 2021 peak of 125 ETH. Bored Ape Yacht Club sat near 5.12 ETH, or about $12,900, down 97 percent from its May 2022 high of 153.7 ETH. Mutant Ape Yacht Club traded around 0.74 ETH, and Pudgy Penguins near 2.19 ETH.
| Collection | Floor (ETH) | Approx. USD | Decline from ATH | 12-Month Change (ETH) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CryptoPunks | 31.29 | $78,600 | -75% | -34% |
| Bored Ape Yacht Club | 5.12 | $12,900 | -97% | -32% |
| Pudgy Penguins | 2.19 | $5,500 | -94% | -72% |
| Mutant Ape Yacht Club | 0.74 | $1,860 | -98% | -29% |
| Milady Maker | 0.72 | $1,820 | -90% | -58% |
These figures come from consistent mid-October snapshots across multiple platforms. The top 100 collections by market capitalization now total roughly $2.10 billion, an 83 percent drop from $12.19 billion in October 2021, with CryptoPunks alone accounting for about 38 percent of the remaining value.
Marketplace infrastructure continues to shrink. On October 12, Blur announced that its website frontend will go offline on November 12, 2026, while the underlying Ethereum marketplace contracts remain operational and BLUR token holders retain control of the fee switch. Blend, the peer-to-peer NFT lending product, will stop matching new loans on the same date; borrowers must repay outstanding positions or face default. Monthly volume on Blur had already collapsed from approximately $1.43 billion in March 2023 to under $7 million by March 2026, a decline exceeding 99.5 percent, as detailed by The Block and CoinDesk. The BLUR token fell more than 20 percent on the news. The Abstract chain, associated with Pudgy Penguins, is scheduled to wind down by December 15, 2026.

“The Blur frontend will be deprecated on November 12, 2026. This deprecation only applies to the frontend. The Blur marketplace protocol will remain operational on-chain.”

OpenSea continues as the broadest general-audience platform, while Magic Eden has refocused after reducing Bitcoin and EVM support earlier in the year. Solana NFT volume has fallen dramatically, from hundreds of millions monthly in 2024 to low single-digit millions in recent months.
Community events provide a counterpoint to the volume contraction. ApeFest 2026 takes place this weekend in Charleston, South Carolina, with the main evening event on October 17 at Beeple Studios from 7 p.m. to midnight. Holders of Bored Ape or Mutant Ape NFTs can claim one ticket per token, typically with a refundable deposit around $99. At current Mutant Ape floors near 0.74 ETH, entry is more accessible than during prior cycles. Side events include bowling, paintball, golf, and pop-up shops at Charleston Union Station beginning October 16, according to the official ApeFest site.
New drops continue daily. NFT Calendar lists 12 collections launching on October 15 alone, ranging from AI-generated characters and hand-drawn PFPs to generative art and hybrid physical-digital projects, many verified and spanning Ethereum, Polygon, and other chains. This steady pipeline of launches contrasts with the secondary-market concentration among established names and physical-backed projects such as Courtyard, which has repeatedly topped weekly rankings by linking on-chain tokens to vaulted real-world cards that owners can redeem.
Broader statistics underscore the multi-year reset. Annual sales across tracked chains fell from $6.37 billion in 2024 to $2.68 billion in 2025 and just $0.39 billion year-to-date through mid-October 2026 on DefiLlama-tracked data. June 2026 marked a monthly low near $18.7 million on those chains before a modest September rebound. Gaming NFTs and utility-oriented collections have gained relative share, while pure profile-picture speculation has largely cooled. Regional forecasts from firms such as Fortune Business Insights still project longer-term expansion from an estimated $18.71 billion market in 2026, though these figures measure cumulative activity differently from pure secondary trading volume tracked by CryptoSlam.
| Blockchain | Weekly Sales (approx.) | Change | Buyers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ethereum | $19.87 million | +15.9% | 8,227 |
| Polygon | $8.75 million | +3.7% | 18,437 |
| Bitcoin | $4.21 million | +18.7% | 2,641 |
| BNB Chain | $3.09 million | +64.9% | 2,579 |
| Solana | $1.35 million | -25.4% | 26,056 |
Data as of the week ending October 13, 2026. Participation metrics remain depressed relative to 2021–2022 peaks, when daily volumes regularly exceeded hundreds of millions of dollars and buyer counts were several times higher. Wash trading continues to appear in certain chain data, particularly on Polygon, requiring careful distinction between reported sales and organic activity.
Analysts note that the combination of modestly higher dollar sales and sharply lower unique participants points to a thinner, more selective market. Blue-chip floors have stabilized in ETH terms for CryptoPunks in recent months after deeper earlier declines, while newer collections such as Pudgy Penguins have shown periodic volume spikes tied to merchandise expansions and community activity. Physical-backed models like Courtyard have demonstrated consistent ranking dominance by offering tangible redemption options.
“The non-fungible token market expanded in value while participation fell sharply, leaving sales and user activity moving in opposite directions.”

On October 15 itself, the market reflected these established patterns: Ethereum liquidity still anchors the majority of high-value trades, Courtyard and select community collections capture outsized volume, and infrastructure consolidation continues with platform sunsets. Twelve new collections entered the market, ApeFest side events began in Charleston, and floor prices for legacy projects showed little immediate movement from the prior day’s levels near 31.29 ETH for CryptoPunks and 5.1 ETH for Bored Apes.
Longer-term observers point to the survival of on-chain ownership standards, the persistence of secondary trading on remaining marketplaces, and the gradual shift toward utility and real-world asset linkages as evidence that the technology has outlasted the 2021 speculative peak. Whether weekly volumes stabilize near the current $40 million range or resume a steeper decline will depend on broader cryptocurrency price action, continued community engagement around events such as ApeFest, and the ability of new projects to attract sustained buyers beyond initial mint periods. For now, the data from October 15, 2026, describe a market that is smaller, more concentrated, and still active, with clear leaders in both volume and relative price resilience amid ongoing platform consolidation.
