Stellarch opens free Hive GameFi alpha with SGC rewards and ghost decks

Stellarch, a deterministic trading-card GameFi title on the Hive and Hive Engine stack, says its open alpha is live for anyone with a browser account. The studio’s September 19 post from founder Daniel Samer frames the shift as more than a soft launch: players can draft a free team, play ranked matches today, and for the first time earn SGC — Stellarch Galactic Credit — while the alpha runs toward a planned full launch on January 8, 2027.
According to the official Stellarch open-alpha announcement, signup no longer needs an invite. New accounts can use email, Google, or Hive Keychain, then draft a 7-card team — 6 Fighters and 1 commander — from a free ghost-catalog floor. The studio stresses that a full legal squad can be fielded without buying a card and without connecting a crypto wallet on day one, with the entire client running in-browser and nothing to download.
That free-floor pitch matters for NFT and GameFi desks that have watched Robinhood Chain pet mints and ApeChain seasons print supply while secondary depth stays thin. Stellarch’s alpha still sits on Hive rather than those EVM rails, but the product claim is familiar: lower the wallet friction, get matches live, then open economy rails later. The studio is explicit that this remains alpha software shipping in the open, with some rails still gated even while the core ladder is playable.
SGC earning is the headline change. Ranked wins feed a daily SGC reward pool that settles at day end; players claim their share on the /play screen the next day. Winning a match also opens a Void Chest for an instant drop, and season-end tournament placements add another reward layer on top of the ladder climb. Beyond credit, alpha play can hand out reward cards, card packs, and potions used as pack-opening boosters — earned by playing, not by a separate cash buy for those drops, per the studio’s wording.
Stellarch is careful about what SGC is and is not. The company describes SGC as product-backed store credit accepted for its own products at a fixed floor of 1,000 SGC per $1 of store value. That floor is framed as an in-game redemption rate for packs, potions, and upgrades, not as cash redemption, reserve backing, or a promised market price. Withdrawal rails and the open card market “exist in the code” but remain gated during alpha, the post says, and the studio states plainly that players cannot withdraw SGC to a wallet today.
Alpha battle-pass economics are pitched as front-loaded. The studio says the WARPATH battle pass pays out far more staked STEL during alpha than it will after full launch, calling the window the cheapest STEL players will get from a season pass. STEL is described as Stellarch’s longer-term staking and governance token, with ranked rewards expected to migrate toward STEL in a later phase after SGC carries the early ladder.
An affiliate program is also live: invitees who join and play can generate rewards for the referrer while the alpha base is still small. Separately, Back the Charter runs through launch as a founder-style support track. Those are studio growth tools, not secondary-market floor prints, and should be read as product claims rather than audited treasury statements.
The broader currency map, detailed on Stellarch’s economy docs, lists four units: SGC, STEL, KRED, and SIGIL. KRED is purchased store credit that stays in-account and cannot be traded or cashed out. SIGIL is framed as soulbound loyalty earned by staking STEL. The player-run card market — listings, bids, rentals, and a stated 5% sale fee — is described as built but switched off for now, alongside withdrawals and player-to-player sends. That gated market is the main distinction versus live NFT secondary venues already printing dollars on Polygon or Solana this month.
Gameplay itself is sold as deterministic rather than pure RNG theater. Players draft the seven-card team under a mana cap and ruleset; the studio says identical teams, rules, and seed produce a byte-identical result that can be re-run. For collectors used to opaque loot boxes, that “provably fair” framing is the product differentiator Stellarch wants desks to track even while withdrawals stay closed.
Orange County desks should separate alpha engagement from liquid NFT sales. CryptoSlam’s latest seven-day NFT sales print near $37.54 million is a separate ledger from Hive GameFi match counts. Stellarch’s useful Monday read is whether free ghost decks and day-end SGC claims convert browsers into retained ranked players before the January 8, 2027 launch date — not whether SGC can be marked to a CEX book today.
Primary sources remain the studio blog and economy pages on stellarch.io plus the mirrored Peakd post dated September 19. Figures cited here — the 1,000 SGC per dollar store floor, the gated market and withdrawals, the January 2027 launch target, and the free seven-card ghost draft — come from those materials. Players should verify live feature flags in the client before treating any economy rail as open.
