Strategy Lifts Digital Credit Buyback to $3B and Adds 267 Bitcoin

Strategy Inc (NASDAQ: MSTR) disclosed on October 19, 2026 that its board raised the digital-credit securities repurchase authorization from $2.0 billion to $3.0 billion, with about $1.16 billion still available as of October 18. In the same Form 8-K window, the company bought 267 BTC for roughly $22.1 million (about $82,900 average inclusive of fees) between October 12–18, lifting holdings to 848,517 BTC. This is a Plain English Policy capital-structure chapter — distinct from our September Strategy STRC/BTC 8-K file and from today’s Webull×Kalshi perps distribution story.
The bitcoin add was funded almost entirely by Strategy’s at-the-market Class A common sale: 140,872 MSTR shares for $22.0 million net proceeds, plus $0.1 million cash. Aggregate BTC cost basis sits near $64.02 billion at an average purchase price of about $75,446. On the preferred side, Strategy said it repurchased 1,938,780 shares of Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock (STRC) for about $193.1 million — the headline dollar figure in the company’s Oct. 19 press title, and larger than the week’s spot bitcoin outlay.
The useful cut for desks is capital allocation, not a new “Strategy is buying” slogan: the marginal dollar in this print leans toward supporting the preferred stack (authorization lift + STRC retirements) while bitcoin accumulation continues at a smaller weekly clip. That mix matters for anyone pricing treasury-company equity against spot BTC, and it sits beside Strive’s separate warrant-funded buy (reported elsewhere) without merging the two 8-Ks. No claim here that the larger buyback authorization is already spent — available capacity as of Oct. 18 remains the binding figure.
For NFT and marketplace desks, the tape implication is corporate bid composition: when Strategy’s week puts more cash into STRC than into coins, the “treasury company always buys the dip” shorthand needs a preferred-market caveat. That does not rewrite OpenSea or vaulted-card floors — it reframes how much automatic spot bid desks should assume from the largest public bitcoin holder between 8-Ks.
Policy watch: Track the next weekly ATM / BTC table, how fast the remaining ~$1.16 billion repurchase capacity is used, and whether STRC buybacks continue to outspend spot bitcoin adds.
Bottom line: Strategy’s October 19, 2026 8-K lifts the digital-credit buyback ceiling to $3 billion, retires about $193 million of STRC, and adds 267 BTC to reach 848,517 coins.
