Vantage and Rio Bank Settle Loan Payment With Tokenized Deposits on Ethereum

Vantage Bank and Rio Bank completed what Participate and Custodia call the first interbank loan participation or syndication principal-and-interest payment using tokenized deposits, announced October 19, 2026. Principal and interest reached the buying institution’s digital wallet in under three minutes, with loan balances and payment notices updating in the same motion. Crypto Briefing adds that settlement ran on Ethereum mainnet via Custodia’s ERC-20 Avit tokenized-deposit rail — not a private sandbox. This is a Stablecoin Settlement Desk chapter: cash-leg clearing on public chain rails, not a new retail stablecoin mint.
Stack: Participate orchestrated allocations, notices, and balance updates; Hazel Network (Vantage + Custodia) handled tokenized-deposit settlement; Vantage supplied banking reserves/APIs; Custodia handled wallets, compliance, and ledger-to-chain reconciliation. Traditional participation remittances still lean on wires, spreadsheets, and emailed notices that can take days to reconcile. Partners stressed the payment stayed inside banking compliance requirements. Tokenized deposits remain claims on the issuing bank inside the regulated system — distinct from freestanding dollar stablecoins even when the settlement chain is public Ethereum.
Context only: Vantage and Custodia have tested tokenized deposits since March 2025; the April 2026 Participate–Vantage–Custodia collaboration plugs Hazel into Participate’s network of more than 750 banks. Participate said it will begin offering loan-sale payment automation with tokenized deposits and Fedwire automation across that network. Do not invent dollar amounts for this specific remittance — the press package leads on timing and workflow, not a disclosed face value. Keep separate from Metaplex “Vantage” Solana trading-terminal chapters and from Korea DABA issuer-policy files.
For settlement desks, the useful cut is simultaneous money + records on Ethereum mainnet for a regulated bank-to-bank participation remittance — a workflow proof, not a retail yield product.
Settlement watch: Watch whether Participate’s 750-bank rollout posts dated tokenized-deposit remittance volume or additional bank pairs after this Oct 19 proof, and whether Hazel stays on Ethereum mainnet for the next disclosed participation payments.
Bottom line: Vantage and Rio cleared a loan-participation P&I remittance with tokenized deposits on Ethereum in under three minutes — money and loan records together.
