Zama opens 16 confidential Morpho vaults and Confidential Swap on Ethereum

Zama said it has expanded confidential access to onchain yield on Ethereum, opening 16 Morpho vaults across five curators and five asset classes while launching the Zama Confidential Swap Protocol. The company framed the release as the next step after June’s Steakhouse-curated confidential USDC Morpho vault, which it said grew from zero to more than $40 million in shielded TVL within seven weeks. Desk readers should treat the TVL figure as a company claim tied to that earlier product, not as an independent audit of the new suite.
According to Zama’s September 15 product post and a September 17 Chainwire release, twelve of the vaults mirror Morpho strategies institutions already use, with confidential deposit assets layered on top. Four are confidential-only products with no public twin, including what Zama calls the first confidential BTC yield vault under the Armitage by Wintermute line. The stated pitch is migration rather than a fork: same curator risk parameters and liquidity, different entry path so balances and deposit sizes stay encrypted.
Asset coverage at launch spans USDC, USDT, WBTC, AUSD, and TGBP, each with confidential token counterparts such as cUSDC and cWBTC. Curators named in the materials are Steakhouse Financial, Armitage by Wintermute, Flowdesk, RockawayX, and Bitwise. Steakhouse is described as bringing five vaults across USDC, USDT, and TGBP, including continuation of the June Prime cUSDC product and a Tether-aligned Confidential Prime USDT venue. Armitage is listed with six vaults across USDC, USDT, and WBTC, including the Wintermute Confidential WBTC vault and a USDC looping vault powered by Pendle.
Flowdesk’s slate in the announcement includes an AUSD RWA strategy vault with Agora and a high-yield confidential USDT vault. RockawayX is tied to a USDC high-yield vault and an RWA vault privacy strategy. Bitwise is listed for an RWA lending vault. All sixteen products are said to be deployed on Morpho and available through the Zama App, with later distribution planned through Utila, Zerion Wallet, and Yield.xyz. Those partner timelines are forward-looking company statements; the desk is not treating them as already-live wallet integrations.
The Confidential Swap Protocol is the other half of the launch. Zama says depositors can swap among confidential assets—including vault share positions and confidential stablecoins—without exposing intent or trade size on a public mempool feed. Combined with the vault stack, the company argues that deposit, earn, and swap can stay inside a confidential envelope while settlement still runs on Ethereum rather than a separate L1. That architecture matters for NFT desks watching stablecoin settlement and bid funding: private yield rails can change how treasuries park USDC between collection buys without broadcasting inventory size to scanners.
Incentives are also part of the wire. Zama said the first confidential incentive campaigns are live on Merkl, starting with the Steakhouse Confidential Prime USDC vault on Morpho. Merkl reportedly supports ERC-7984, Zama’s confidential token standard, so reward computation can use authorized decryption while positions, reward amounts, and leaderboards stay off public boards. Claim tooling is described as opening in the weeks after launch, with accrual counting from day one in qualifying vaults. Again, those are product claims; independent verification of incentive accounting was not published with the release.
Quotes in the materials lean institutional. Dr. Rand Hindi, Zama co-founder and CEO, said the expansion proves confidentiality and DeFi are not mutually exclusive and that sixteen vaults across five curators and five asset classes show the model at scale. Morpho co-founder Merlin Egalite said adding confidential vaults on Morpho was an important step for allocators who want confidential onchain allocation without changing strategy, liquidity, or risk profile. Steakhouse co-founder Sébastien Derivaux pointed to depositor demand for private positions across a broader Morpho stablecoin suite.
For 8bitcrypto’s Dev Pulse read, the engineering story is the bridge between confidential ERC tokens and public ERC-4626 Morpho vaults. Earlier Zama design notes describe batching confidential deposits, aggregate unwrap, and callback settlement so individual amounts are not written in plaintext when capital enters a public vault. That is the practical unlock for desks that care about front-running, copy trading, and competitive treasury signaling—not a promise that protocol risk, curator risk, or oracle risk disappears. Collectors funding NFT bids with stablecoin float should still check vault documentation, curator parameters, and redemption paths before treating shielded TVL as cash-like inventory.
Primary sources for this report are Zama’s Confidential DeFi at Scale post and the Chainwire distribution dated September 17, 2026. The product window opened for deposits on September 15 per those materials. No onchain TVL snapshot for the full sixteen-vault set was independently confirmed by this desk at publish time, and NFT marketplace volumes were not claimed as part of the release. The news value is the category expansion: confidential entry into existing Morpho curator rails plus a confidential swap loop on Ethereum, with named institutional curators and a clear stablecoin-plus-BTC asset map.
