Hyperliquid RWA Perp Share Falls to 26% as CEXs Capture Tape

Hyperliquid’s trade.xyz slice of real-world-asset perpetual futures volume has fallen from about 80% in July to 26%, while centralized exchanges now hold roughly 64% of the RWA-perp tape, per Artemis data highlighted by Ark Invest’s Lorenzo Valente and an Oct 23 wrap from FXStreet. Weekly RWA-perp volume roughly doubled to tripled — from around $20 billion toward $40–60 billion — with CEXs capturing most of the new flow rather than a pure zero-sum drain. Binance’s share is cited rising from about 3% to 30% in two weeks; OKX near 14%, with Gate and Bitget also expanding. This is an Ape Index chapter: venue share on TradFi-flavored perps — not a Hyperliquid outage and not a tokenized-stock IPO.
Why the tape shifted, from the same materials: Hyperliquid’s early edge was 24/7 oil and other TradFi exposures when CEXs lagged; Binance’s March TradFi perps (commodities, selected stocks/ETFs, USDT settlement) and OKX’s July slate of 40+ tokenized U.S. stocks/ETFs pulled that flow onto familiar CEX accounts. Desk rule: Hyperliquid is still a major perp venue — FXStreet cites about $208.07 billion in 30-day total perp volume — so “losing RWA share” ≠ “dead venue.” Keep separate from Ripple Prime’s Hyperliquid-referenced RWA swaps (10931) and from JPM MONY/JLTXX spot RWA rails (11028).
Price color only (not the lead): HYPE was near $77.8 in that wrap, bouncing the 100-day EMA above about $75.6 support after a weak session — treat as tape context, not a forecast.
For ape desks, the cut is share math: RWA-perp volume grew, but Binance/OKX-style CEX books took most of the incremental TradFi-perp flow — Hyperliquid’s July dominance is gone for now.
What changes for desks: Watch Artemis RWA-perp venue share into November; whether Hyperliquid oil/TradFi open interest stabilizes as CEXs keep listing; and whether HYPE fee/buyback tape diverges from the RWA-share chart.
Bottom line: Hyperliquid’s RWA-perp share slid from ~80% to 26% as CEX books took ~64% of a growing TradFi-perp market.
