Initia Exploit Assets Hit Ethereum in 7 Minutes 21 Seconds, TokenPost Says

UPDATE — TokenPost on October 24, 2026 adds bridge-timing detail to Friday’s Initia halt: assets reached Ethereum within seven minutes and 21 seconds of an Initia-side mint, with separate payouts from LayerZero adapters and Circle’s CCTP. Desk’s prior Rug Room chapter — Initia Halts L1 and Rollups After ~$2.7M Mint-to-Bridge Exploit — covered the 15:41 UTC pause and co-founder Zon’s early MoveVM-on-Cosmos SDK read; today’s primary is the mint→adapter clock and how hard the Ethereum-side lockboxes were hit. High-level funds trail only — not an exploit cookbook.
TokenPost’s reconstruction starts with a 10:59 a.m. ET Initia transaction that created two million tokens labeled AUSD. After those tokens were burned, LayerZero adapters on Ethereum released 1.4 million AUSD — about 71% of that adapter’s balance — and 105 ETH, or about 96% of the native-ETH adapter’s balance. A further 1.08 million USDC arrived through Circle’s CCTP. The adapters hold assets backing bridged tokens; emptying most of an ETH adapter in one incident is the forensic cut, not a claim that LayerZero’s messaging layer itself was broken. Desk still treats Zon’s roughly $2.7 million figure and researcher prints near $2.6–$2.73 million as moving until Initia posts a final loss total.
Agora, which issues AUSD, repeated that the stablecoin is fully backed and that it has no smart contracts deployed on Initia. TokenPost and related wraps place the 1.4 million AUSD payout at an Ethereum adapter holding assets behind Initia’s bridged version of the token — a third-party product path, not an Agora mint on Initia. That distinction matters for recovery narratives: losses sit with whoever deposited into the adapter stack, while Agora’s freeze of an attacker-linked AUSD account on Ethereum remains a separate issuer control from Initia’s L1 halt. Native INIT stays outside the mint bug Zon described; users waiting on restart still have no announced date from Friday’s evening wrap.
On-chain indicators still circulating with the TokenPost clock include the Ethereum proceeds cluster near 1,135.5 ETH in a fresh wallet after stables were swapped, plus named release transactions for the 1.4M AUSD and 105 ETH adapter payouts that D2 Finance–style advisories have listed beside the Initia-side mint hash. Treat wallet labels and explorer links as research pointers, not court findings. The halt froze L1 and rollup progress; it did not reverse Ethereum-side adapter drains that already cleared. Keep this chapter separate from Artrade’s ATR staking drain (11091) and other Oct. 24 Rug Room weather — same desk, different mint and bridge stack.
For collectors and builders watching Initia-linked apps, the practical status is unchanged until the team publishes scope, root cause, and restart conditions: do not bridge to or from Initia while the L1 stays paused, and do not assume adapter balances that backed bridged AUSD/ETH/USDC representations will be restored on any particular calendar. NFT and GameFi surfaces that settled through Initia rollups remain offline with the chain. Exchanges and validators named in Friday’s coordination note are still part of the investigation lane TokenPost left open as of its Oct. 24 publish.
What to watch on-chain next: Track whether the ~1,135.5 ETH proceeds wallet fragments, deposits to CEXs, or stays idle; watch for any Initia official postmortem that confirms the 7m21s mint-to-Ethereum path and final adapter loss totals; and flag any Agora or CCTP follow-ups that change freeze or redeem status for the drained legs.
Bottom line: TokenPost’s Oct. 24 tape clocks Initia mint assets to Ethereum in 7 minutes 21 seconds, with 1.4M AUSD and 105 ETH from LayerZero adapters plus 1.08M USDC via CCTP — while Agora says it never deployed contracts on Initia.
