Solana Alpenglow Genesis Cert Is Live as TowerBFT Retires

Solana Alpenglow is live on mainnet-beta. A mainnet getAgGenesisCert call on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 returned a non-null genesis certificate with block.slot 459,652,999 — the RPC flip signal this desk’s epoch 1064 countdown chapter was waiting for, and an update to the Solana Alpenglow tracker. Anza’s PR Newswire release said validators retired TowerBFT at slot 459,653,000 around ~14:00 UTC, completing the largest consensus change since Solana’s 2020 launch while carrying the existing ledger forward. Epoch info at this tick still showed epoch 1064 with absolute slot already past 459,662,000.

Read the slot labels carefully. Foundation and Anza copy pin the consensus takeover at 459,653,000 after a ~5,000-slot TowerBFT tail from epoch start. The live genesis certificate’s block.slot printed 459,652,999 on mainnet-beta RPC — consistent with explorer notes that the genesis certificate forms on the last TowerBFT block before Alpenglow produces the next. Do not treat a one-slot offset between press language and the certificate field as a failed migration; the authoritative “is it live?” answer is a non-null certificate object, which this tick has.

Design target remains about 150 milliseconds finality versus roughly 12.8 seconds under TowerBFT. Cointelegraph cited the Foundation dashboard near 1:54 p.m. UTC with about 6.6-second measured finality and roughly 4,721 TPS at press time — treat that as an early post-flip dashboard snapshot, not proof the 150 ms target is already the steady-state print. Votor (voting/finality) is what shipped today; Rotor (block propagation) and later Quantumglow research remain future work with no committed date in Anza’s release. Wallets, programs, fees, and NFT mints need no token migration.

For NFT and Phygital desks on Solana — pack rails, Mudwater claims, marketplace fills — the cut is settlement confidence: irreversible finality is designed to arrive in a blink once the protocol is healthy, but indexers and venue confirmation policies may lag the cert flip. Watch for stalled RPC on pre-4.3 nodes (Method not found is not the same as null), confirmation-count retunes at wallets, and whether any major NFT indexer misses the first Alpenglow blocks.

Next protocol beat: Track measured finality versus the 150 ms target over the next ~24 hours, confirm no material mainnet incident after the TowerBFT retirement, and watch Anza/Foundation notes on Rotor timing — then the Alpenglow tracker can move toward its activation stop rule.

Bottom line: Mainnet getAgGenesisCert is no longer null — Alpenglow’s genesis certificate is live (slot 459,652,999) after TowerBFT’s retirement at the epoch 1064 handoff.
